Sports247 reports that Dr Oshodi gave the assurance based on what he described as a full alignment of JFN’s efforts with the National Sports Commission (NSC) to ensure a performance-driven build-up to the fast-approaching Games.

Oshodi further pledged that all judokats that will be part of the nation’s delegation to Glasgow for the Games, holding from July 23rd to August 2nd, will contribute to Team Nigeria’s target of winning 20 gold medals in Glasgow.

He added after a strategic meeting with NSC director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade, along with federation executives, in Abuja that JFN is ready to match the commission’s early preparations with the opening of camp on Tuesday.

While affirming that they will together finalise the plans in days to come, Oshodi pointed out that the subsequent overseas camp in Aberdeen, Scotland will be used to put finishing touches to all preparations, based updated information and ideas.

The JFN president also disclosed that the federation had reviewed past outings and performances by the contingent at previous editions of the Commonwealth Games, with a view towards identifying and plugging all technical and logistical gaps.

Oshodi asserted, “We are fully aligned with the NSC mandate. Glasgow 2026 is not about participation for us, it is about podium finishes. The Director General has set the tone – athlete welfare first, discipline always, and results at the end.

“Judo will not be left behind in this new era of Nigerian sports. The days of last-minute camping are over. Our athletes will be in camp early, medically screened, technically refined and mentally prepared. Aberdeen offers the right environment.”
