The reigning world champion is preparing for her third Commonwealth Games appearance, having previously won silver at Glasgow 2014 before capturing gold at the Gold Coast 2018 Games, cementing her place among Nigeria’s greatest para-athletes.

Oluwafemiayo, who will lead Team Nigeria into this year’s Games in Glasgow, Scotland, said wearing the green and white remains one of the proudest moments of her career.

“It is a great honour to represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games. Not every athlete gets this opportunity, so I feel privileged every time I am called upon to serve my country,” she said.

The multiple-time world champion also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting Team Nigeria as the athletes intensify preparations for one of the biggest multi-sport events on the international calendar.

According to her, the encouragement of Nigerians provides extra motivation for the athletes to perform at their best whenever they compete for the country.

“We appreciate the prayers and support of Nigerians. We will continue to give our best and do everything possible to make the country proud in Glasgow,” she added.

Oluwafemiayo has enjoyed one of the most decorated careers in Nigerian para-sport, winning multiple World Para Powerlifting Championship titles while setting world records and consistently finishing on the podium at major international competitions.

Team Nigeria is currently in the final phase of its preparations ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with Oluwafemiayo expected to play a leading role both as captain and as one of the country’s strongest medal prospects in para powerlifting.
