ENUGU CITY INTERNATIONAL MARATHON: 2 DAYS TO GO! A City In Motion – Enugu Set To Host World-Class Road Race

Forty-eight hours from now, the Coal City steps into the spotlight. On Saturday, 28th August 2026, Enugu will host the Enugu City International Marathon, turning streets, neighborhoods, and landmarks into a living stage for sport, culture, and business.

This is not just race day. It is months of planning, meeting the moment, and the point where Enugu officially plants its flag on the global running calendar.

Momentum is building across the city. The Marathon Expo is live, athletes are picking up kits, brands are rolling out activations, and visitors are checking in by the thousands.

All systems are green. The route has been measured and certified. Medical, security, and logistics teams have run their final drills. Timing tech and broadcast setups are locked in to beam the race live across Nigeria and to viewers abroad.

Media partners including Arise TV, Channels TV, AIT and other leading outlets are already on site. The International Conference Center is running as the official World Press Center for the event.
A World Press Conference will be held at 10 am tomorrow at the International Conference Centre, with organizers, partners, and elite runners speaking to the press before the gun goes off.

“This is where preparation meets proof,” the Local Organizing Committee said. “Enugu has done the work. Now we show the world what a Nigerian city can deliver.”

The Enugu City International Marathon goes beyond the finish line. It is about jobs, visibility, and putting Enugu on the map as a destination.

Hotels are booked out. Restaurants, transport, vendors, and local businesses are seeing a clear spike ahead of the weekend. The race is opening doors and putting money in people’s pockets.

More than economics, this is about identity. When cameras follow runners through Enugu, viewers see a city that is safe, vibrant, and ready for tourism, investment, and new talent.

On Saturday, the roads will tell Enugu’s stories. The small business owner up at dawn for training. The corps member running for a community cause. The coach pacing with family. The pros chasing PBs and prize money.

They won’t run alone. Thousands of volunteers, medical staff, students, and fans will line the route, turning every kilometer into energy.

Residents and guests should stop by the Marathon Expo, claim a spot along the course, and catch the live broadcast.

The runners are set. The city is set. The world is watching. Let’s move together as ‘A City In Motion’.
