Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has reflected on his journey with the national team after reaching the landmark of 100 appearances, describing the achievement as one of the proudest moments of his career.
The Fulham star admitted wearing the green and white jersey over the years has been a dream fulfilled and insists he still has unfinished business with the Super Eagles.
“It’s been an amazing journey,” Iwobi said.
The former Arsenal and Everton midfielder expressed gratitude to everyone who has played a role in his international career, including his family, teammates, coaches and Nigerian supporters.
“I’m grateful to my family, my teammates and the fans who have supported me throughout my career,” he added.
Iwobi revealed that representing Nigeria remains a privilege and says he still has the same passion and desire that inspired him when he first broke into the national team.
Despite reaching the century mark for appearances, the midfielder insists retirement is not on his mind.
“I’m not ready to hang up my boots yet,” he stated.
The 29-year-old also admitted that his biggest ambition is to win a major trophy with Nigeria before calling time on his international career.
Iwobi has been one of the Super Eagles’ most consistent performers over the past decade and remains a key figure under head coach Eric Chelle.
Having reached the 100-cap milestone, the midfielder says his focus is now firmly on helping Nigeria compete for honours in the years ahead.
