Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) president, Jibril Saidu Ojih has disclosed that the body’s newly introduced MatchVision platform will go a long way in providing fresh ideas to coaches, referees, technical officers and statisticians in the sport.
Sports247 reports that Ojih provided the ray of hope in the wake of an event that was organised by the HFN to formally launch the digital platform, which he said will also aid live video analysis and match intelligence in handball games.
Ojih added that the HFN MatchVision will bring into Nigeria’s domestic handball fixtures real-time recording, video review, tactical tools, live scores, automated updates and reporting on the spot without any delay through a single system.
He further revealed that analysts will henceforth be able to run through the HFN’s Live Match Centre to log goals, shots, fouls, cards, 7-metre throws and keep the public informed with an updated scoreboard in real time, while coaches can upload full match recordings.
Handball coaches will now find it easier to annotate footage, bookmark key moments and build training clips tagged by attack, defence, goalkeeping, or set plays, while referees also have a dedicated space to review incidents, cards, 7M decisions and generate reports.
HFN’s press officer and media commission vice-chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka Akisi added, “Once a match ends, MatchVision automatically drafts a performance report that can be exported as a professional PDF complete with scoreline, team statistics, leaders, events, bookmarks and clips for clubs, coaches and officials.
“The platform also powers a public live-scores page, giving fans and officials real-time access to ongoing matches. To mark the launch, HFN is offering a one-month free trial to all registered users, who can sign up and select the role that matches their role.”
Ojih also described the handball platform as a jet age innovation and hi-tec milestone for the sport in Nigeria, and he expatiated thus: “HFN MatchVision is a major step forward for handball development in this country.
“For too long, our coaches, referees, and statisticians have had to work without video tools. This platform changes that. It gives our technical crews the intelligence they need to make better decisions, develop players faster, and officiate with greater confidence.
“I want to specially commend our ICT team for this innovation. What they have built rivals what you would find in far more resourced federations, and they did it with a deep understanding of what our coaches and match officials actually need on the ground.
“This is what happens when talent is given the room to innovate for the good of Nigerian handball. We want all coaches, referees and statisticians affiliated with the Federation to take advantage of the free trial and begin using MatchVision for upcoming league and championship fixtures.”
