TCCLeague24: Gbagada FC Coach Blames Recent Loss On Player Lack Of Responsibility, Outlines Improvement Plans

The game, which pitted Gbagada FC against Real Sapphire, ended 1-0 in favor of Real Sapphire during matchday 5 at the Dipo Dino Stadium over the weekend.

Coach Akinyelu blames the goal conceded on his player’s lack of responsibility.

During a post-match interview, Coach Akinyelu shared his thoughts on the performance and loss. He pointed out that the first half of the game was less than stellar for his team. Gbagada FC allowed their opponents to control the game, which eventually resulted in Real Sapphire securing a lone goal.

Akinyelu highlighted a critical moment in the game where one of his players, he felt, failed to fulfill his defensive responsibilities. The player believed he was fouled and didn’t continue defending, expecting the referee to award a foul that wasn’t given. It was this lapse that led to the decisive goal scored by Real Sapphire.

However, Coach Akinyelu recognized the improved performance of his team in the second half, where they were able to regain control of the game. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t find the back of the net to level the score.

“It was not a good game for us. The first forty-five were flat. We allowed them to control the game. They got the lone goal just from a player not doing his responsibility. Felt he was fouled and didn’t continue defending and the referee didn’t give a foul that led to the goal.

Aside from that, after we conceded the goal, we pushed out, stopped them from playing and the second half was much better but we just couldn’t find the back of the net.” Olajide explained in the post-match interview with Sports247.

Gbagada FC is currently working to climb the league table from the bottom half. When asked about their plans for improvement in the coming weeks, Coach Akinyelu expressed optimism.

He acknowledged that their defense had been a challenge, as they hadn’t managed to keep a clean sheet in any of their six games so far this season.

The coaching staff is aware of the issue and is actively addressing it in their training and tactics. Coach Akinyelu firmly believes that as they progress through the season, Gbagada FC will continue to improve, and the desired results will eventually come their way.
