Coach Anyasi Godwin has revealed his ambitious plans to develop Authority FA into a strong platform for nurturing young football talents in Ifo, following the team’s impressive run at the FEMMCO Football Championship 2026.
Authority FA, formerly known as Apakose, remained unbeaten throughout the U-10 category before suffering a narrow defeat to Disciple FA in the final. Despite missing out on the trophy, Godwin described the campaign as a positive experience for his young players.

Speaking in an interview with SPORTS247 during the championship, the young tactician admitted that Disciple FA were tactically more mature in the final and made it difficult for his team to penetrate their defence.
“It was a great game with good performances from my team, but our opponents were much more tactically mature than my players. It was very hard to penetrate their defence,” Godwin said.
Rather than dwell on the defeat, the coach believes the experience will provide important lessons for his players as they continue their development.
“Overall, it was a good game for my players and I know we will take the lessons learnt here and do well in subsequent competitions,” he added.
Godwin also disclosed his long-term ambition of seeing his players move beyond the grassroots football scene in Ifo and secure opportunities with bigger academies and clubs.
“My plan in the next one or two years for my players is that they are outside Ifo playing in better teams like Beyond Limits, Sporting Lagos etc. and displaying their tremendous skillset and talent,” he stated.
Explaining the transition from Apakose to Authority FA, Godwin said the new name is connected to his identity and represents the new brand of his team.
Meanwhile, his impressive work was recognised at the championship as he was named the Best Coach in the U-10 category.
Reacting to the honour, Godwin expressed gratitude for the recognition and opportunity to showcase his coaching abilities.
“I can’t really say much about it, but I am really grateful to God for the opportunity and recognition,” he said.
The young coach also acknowledged the influence of experienced grassroots football coaches, particularly Coach FEMMCO and Coach Fortune, whom he considers mentors.
“I try as much as possible to train the boys immensely and try to emulate coaches like Oluwafemi Adebayo Oladehinde and Onaolapo Micheal of Femmco FA and Fortune FA respectively are mentors,” Godwin added.
With his focus on player development and his ambition to expose his youngsters to bigger football opportunities, Godwin is positioning Authority FA as another promising pathway for Ifo’s next generation of football talents.
