Coventry City of England midfielder, Frank Onyeka will get his first match back in the English Premier League against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new campaign, as last season’s Championship winners take on the top-flight title holders.
Sports247 reports that it will be a return to familiar terrain for Onyeka, who had previously featured regularly in the EPL with Brentford before moving at the start of this year on loan to Coventry, who he helped gain promotion last month.

Back then, the product of Faith Motors Football Academy, who was born in Benin City on January 1st, 1998, started in Brentford’s 2–0 victory against Arsenal, as The Bees got their first ever victory in England’s top-tier league.
Onyeka will now look eagerly up to his date back in the English top-flight, as his team are scheduled to face the defending champions on Friday, August 21, with the EPL’s 2026/2027 season kicking-off at The Gunners’ home ground in London.
A report by Sky Sports adds, “The curtain-raiser will see Mikel Arteta’s Gunners – fresh from celebrating their first title triumph in 22 years – play host to Frank Lampard’s Championship winners in an 8pm kick-off at Emirates Stadium.
“There will be six Premier League games live across the opening round, including Andoni Iraola’s first match in charge of Liverpool (as) The Reds go to Newcastle United on Sunday, August 23 in a 4.30pm kick-off.
“London derbies – Brentford vs Spurs (Saturday August 22, 5.30pm) and Fulham vs Chelsea (Monday August 24, 8pm) – are also among the opening fixtures, (while) Man City begin at Etihad Stadium against Bournemouth at 2pm on Sunday August 23.
“Championship play-off winners Hull City welcome Manchester United to MKM Stadium on their Premier League return at 12.30pm on Saturday August 22, while fellow promoted side Ipswich begin at Portman Road with Sunderland at 3pm.”
