Fosla Football Club, FFC over the weekend recorded a win and a draw in two friendly matches she played ahead of the 2020 Nationwide League One, NLO season.
In the first of the two matches played on Saturday, February 29, the NLO newcomers settled for a barren draw against Garden City Panters.
The match was played at the training field of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Both teams had chances to go home with the bragging rights but incisive defending and good goalkeeping ensured that the spoil was shared evenly.
In the second match played later in the evening of same day against FCT Selected side, the tireless FFC players made their experience in the first match count as they ran away 4-2 winners Played at the Area 3 Play Round with sizeable fans, FFC took the lead in the first half after Abdulasalam Hassan pounced on a through ball from the middle to break the deadlock.
The first half ended a goal apiece but the Karhsi based side were not deterred by the resurgence of the FCT Selected side who towards the twilight of first half as they quickly continued their goal scoring prowess with relative ease.
Bashiru Abdullahi scored two goals in the spaces of 20 minutes to bring the scoreline at 3-1. Ejeh Josephe capped a scintillating performance with the last and fourth goal for FFC to make it 4-1 on the 77th minute.
However, a late minute onslaught by the FCT guys ensured that they got another consolation, too late for any unlikely come back as the match ended 4-2 in favour FFC boys who had been in camp for barely a week.
Speaking to FFC Media Department, the Technical Adviser of the Club, Abimbola Samuel said that the essence of the matches were to find-tune the team and discover lapses ahead of the league.
He noted that the second match was a much improvement from the first adding that the technical crew will continue to effect corrections in the lapses noticed.
“The players have just spent a week in camp and anybody who knows the history of the club should understand their peculiarity.
The essence of the two matches is not the winning but that is a good one for the boys. They made amends from the lapses we identified in the first match so I commend them.
“The two matches helped us to identify problem areas and we will go back to training and sort them out. We are a team in transition and anybody who knows the club and understands our peculiarity, should be able to access the impact of work we are doing.
“We are looking forward to the league season and before that, we would have fixed all loopholes and be ready to face the league challenges,” he said.
