Idris Musa saves Kogi United, Confluence Queens from Aiteo Cup blackout

But for timely intervention of Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kogi State, Alhaji Idris Musa, both Kogi United and Confluence Queens may not feature in this year’s Aiteo Cup competition.

The two state owned clubs have been struggling for funds since two seasons from now.

Both Kogi United and Confluence Queens were on the verge of missing out on participating in the Oldest cup competition in the country due to funds.

But Alhaji Musa who assumed office as Commissioner of Sports last month was able to matched words with actions as he saved the state from national embarrassment by borrowing the teams funds to register for the competition through the Kogi State Football Association pending when the government will release their funds.

Chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens who was elated by the commissioner’s gesture thanked him for his timely intervention just as he promised that the two teams would make the state proud in the competition.

Kogi United are campaigning in the second tier division of Nigeria leagues while Confluence Queens are participating in the Nigeria Women Premier League, NWPL.

Kogi United will resume for the NNL engagement on 14th of March against Aklosendi FC of Lafia while Confluence Queens will get their new season underway on 18th of March with a trip to Akure to take on Sunshine Queens.
