Falcons WAFU triumph excites assistant coach Madu

Nigeria’s women national team assistant coach Maureen Madu has expressed delight following the eventual triumph of Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the just concluded WAFU women’s cup of nations against host nation Cote d’ivoire on Saturday.

In a chat with Sports247, Madu said the team has lived up to its pre tournament billing and also revealed how delighted everyone was including the coaches and the technical crew. She thereafter showered encomium on tournament’s revelation and top scorer Uchenna Kanu who has since been called to camp for the Super Falcons final world cup camping in Austria.

“I am so happy I don’t even know how to describe how happy I am. These girls fought to the last. They really promised us that they are going to do the country proud and they did, we are o happy.

They really exhibited the spirit of Naija. Uchenna Kanu is a good player and we invited her to see more of her for the world cup camping. She did well and gave a very good account of herself at the WAFU.” Madu told Sports247.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons who now hold the title of Africa and regional champion at the same time will now shift focus to the final preparation towards the FIFA women world cup in France next month.
