Emmanuel Dennis Header Boosts Watford’s Premier League Survival Hopes, Samuel Kalu Awaits Debut

Emmanuel Dennis’s second-half goal gave Watford a 1-0 victory away to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. The Nigerian headed in past Emiliano Martinez from a Ismaila Sarr cross in the 78th minute to secure all three points for the visitors.

The win lifts Watford off the foot of the table and ends a 12-game winless streak in all competitions for the club. It is also the first win under Roy Hodgson, the veteran manager appointed last month to replace the dismissed Claudio Ranieri.

Watford are up to 18th on the league table, four points adrift from safety on 18 points. They play host to Crystal Palace next Wednesday.

Dennis now has 9 league goals this season to go with his 5 assists. The winger had not found the back of the net since December 28th.

Watford’s January recruit, Samuel Kalu was an unused substitute in the game. The £3.5m signing from Bordeaux is yet to make his debut for the Hornets.
