Elkanemi Warriors dreaming of making history

There are many reasons for Elkanemi Warriors fans to dream at the end of the 18/19 Nigeria Professional Football League. Sports247.ng’s Ademetan Abayomi takes a look at this.

Elkanemi Warriors struggled in the previous campaign and didn’t really impress their die hard supporters.

Their flawless home invisibility was tampered with and that created concerns in their ranks. They weren’t even fantastic away from home in the top flight.

Fast forward to preparations for the 18/19 campaign they employed former Kano Pillars tactician Mohammed Baba Ganaru and signed some good players.

The Desert Warriors engaged the services of Itodo Akor, Babatunde Solomon, Afeez Mohammed amongst others.

Players like George Michael, Innocent Gabriel, Lucky Erimuya, Anthony Yeful, Sunday Anthony, Bello Koformata and Abdulrazaq Aliyu have all showed leadership qualities in steering the ship.

They started the current season with an impressive victory over Akwa United at the magnificent Godswill Apkabio Stadium and have picked 18 points so far in Group B of the top tier.

Warriors are second on the ladder and are dreaming of making the playoffs with the title on top of their radar.

This lofty dream could be fulfilled due to the high spirit of the Maiduguri based side. Who says they can’t win the title? Maybe their first ever in history.
