Ekiti United Gaffer, Ayeni Joins Sunshine Stars On NPFL Rescue Mission

Just like the norm in the football circle where coaches and players move from one team to another, the head coach of Ekiti United FC, Ayodeji Ayeni has moved to Sunshine Stars of Akure.

The coach who led Ekiti United FC to its current third position on the 2021 Nigeria National League -NNL table moved to Akure to finalize the new deal a day after helping Ekiti United FC record its first away league victory beating Rovers FC of Calabar on Saturday by 3 goals to 1.

Coach Ayeni who joined Ekiti United during the 2019 NNL season is expected to be officially unveiled any moment from now as he replaces coach Gbenga Ogunbote who recently left Sunshine Stars.

Meanwhile, the management of Ekiti United has swiftly done the needful by appointing Samson Omiponle who assisted coach Ayeni as the acting coach while he will be assisted by the second assistant coach, Adeola Awe(Adex)

The management of Ekiti United applauded the role played by coach Ayeni while in charge of the team and prayed he succeeds in his new task as Sunshine Stars head coach though it came as a positive surprise to the entire team.

In readiness for the post-Ayeni era, Ekiti United Team Manager, Olushola Babatola prior to today’s training session addressed the new coaching crew and the players at the Oluyemi Kayode stadium.

The new acting head coach, Samson Omiponle, and his assistant, Adeola Awe who were officially unveiled by the Team Manager charged the players to keep up the good work that earned Ekiti United its current impressive standing adding that with determination and focus, the team will finish among the top 2 in the Southern Conference of the NNL.

The players who hailed the new acting head coach and his assistant began their training on Tuesday (today) in high spirit with praise and worship.

Meanwhile, there are indications that some top teams in the Nigerian Professional Football league including Sunshine Stars of Akure are eyeing at least 12 players of Ekiti United following their impressive performances in the ongoing NNL season.

Ekiti United FC has six matches left in the 2021 NNL season with 4 home and 2 away matches while their next match is on Sunday against Vandrezzer FC from Lagos.
