The purpose of this interactive session, hosted at the Club’s secretariat in the State Pavilion, Ado Ekiti, was to convey the vision and objectives of the State Football team to the sports media fraternity.

It also served as an opportunity for both entities to map out a mutually beneficial path forward.

The Secretary of Ekiti United FC, Ayodeji Olowolafe, emphasized the critical role played by sports journalists in spotlighting and promoting the club’s activities.

He expressed his regret over the club’s historical failure to establish a robust partnership with SWAN while providing a strong assurance of a positive change in the upcoming 2023/24 Nigeria National Football League Season.

Olowolafe conveyed appreciation for SWAN’s enduring support, despite limited financial commitment from the club in past seasons.

In an effort to foster a renewed and constructive relationship, the club’s management will proactively seek to collaborate more closely with SWAN.

Initiatives like providing replica jerseys to SWAN members prior to the league’s kickoff will be implemented.

The club urged sports writers to maintain diligence in their role, advocating for public and government awareness of how best to support the club. They also encouraged journalists to bring attention to areas that warrant improvement within the club’s operations.

Team Manager of Ekiti United FC, Adedeji Adu, expressed his faith in the players, both retained and newly recruited, for the forthcoming NNL season. He urged SWAN to continue their steadfast coverage of Ekiti United’s activities, both on and off the field. The Team Manager, in partnership with the Club Secretary, pledged to supply 50 pairs of specially crafted souvenirs to members of SWAN in Ekiti State, reinforcing their sense of involvement.

In response, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ekiti State, led by Chairman Qozeem Oladapo, expressed gratitude for the club’s commitment to collaborating with SWAN.

They promised to diligently continue reporting on the club’s activities across various media platforms, aiming to attract additional support from the government, corporate entities, and individuals in Ekiti and beyond.

Oladapo praised the unity of purpose within SWAN, acknowledging the vital role it plays in strengthening the understanding among members regarding the State Football team.

This unity has significantly fortified the Media Unit of Ekiti United ahead of the new season.

The SWAN Secretary, Bisi Ogunleye, and other members engaged the Management of Ekiti United FC with pertinent questions, seeking insights into the club’s preparedness for the 2023/24 NNL season, set to commence shortly.

The club representatives responded promptly, and the meeting concluded with a group photograph, cementing the collaborative accord between the two entities.
