Rotary Club of Ikeja-Alausa Empowers Students With Online Essay Contest On Technology’s Vital Role In Nurturing Hope

    In September, the Rotary Club of Ikeja-Alausa organized an online essay contest to commemorate Basic Education and Literacy Month.

    This competition attracted participation from over a thousand students from secondary schools located in both Lagos and Ogun States. The essay’s theme was “The role of technology to foster hope.”

    Entries for the essay contest were meticulously evaluated based on various criteria, including submission requirements, content, organization, grammar, clarity, and engagement.

    Out of this impressive pool of talent, the nine most outstanding essays were carefully selected.

    Among these exceptional essays, Destiny Okegade, a student from Royal Home College in Ota, Ogun State, emerged as the overall winner. Her essay clearly demonstrated her thoughtful insights into the role of technology in nurturing hope and its impact on society.

    In recognition of their outstanding achievements, the top three essayists were honored with prestigious awards in a prize presentation event that took place at the Erith Apartments and Suites on the 27th of October 2023.

    They received cash prizes, with the winner securing a sum of NGN40,000, the first runner-up receiving NGN30,000, and the second runner-up awarded NGN20,000.

    Moreover, the winners were presented with symbolic gold, silver, and bronze medals in recognition of their remarkable accomplishments. All the participants got certificates of attendance.

    Additionally, the Rotary Club ensured their continued involvement in the organization’s youth programs by providing them with automatic tickets to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program scheduled for January.

    This essay contest serves as a testament to the commitment of the Rotary Club of Ikeja-Alausa to promote education and literacy.
