Ebenezer Akinsanmiro Set To Play In Italy’s Second Division, Following Relegation With Pisa

Former Remo Stars of Ikenne battler, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro may end up playing in the Italian second division next season, as he was on Friday officially relegated with his club, Pisa, before the last kick of the campaign, Sports247 reports.

Akinsanmiro is currently on loan at Pisa from Inter Milan, who initially sent him to Sampdoria in a similar deal and The Nerazzurri don’t look likely to recall him from his current base in the summer.

Incidentally, while Pisa held a mathematical chance of escaping the drop before their home fixture on the first day of May, their inability to win meant the historic outfit can no longer stay up in the Italian top-flight.

Akinsanmiro, who almost had a personal setback in Friday’s game, in which he was inches away rom conceding an own goal, will now weigh his options in the summer transfer window, to leave or stick with them in Serie B.

All odds, though, point in the direction of a summer exit for the battling youngster, since he would fancy his chances of being part of the Super Eagles once again, as he was at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, but could be overlooked while playing in the lower division.

However, the prospects of tolling in the shadows of second division matches next season are looming large, following the inability of Akinsanmiro and his teammates to save the season for their club, as they fell at home to Lecce on Friday.

A report by Tribal Football adds, “Pisa were officially relegated from Serie A after a 2-1 loss to 17th-placed Lecce, which extended the gap between the pair to 14 points with only three matches to play.

“Playing for their top-flight survival, Pisa soon began creating chances, when Michel Aebischer’s free-kick forced Wladimiro Falcone into a save, before Samuele Angori’s through ball played in Filip Stojilkovic, who could only hit the side netting.

“Then, things nearly went horribly wrong for the Nerazzurri when an overhit Ebenezer Akinsanmiro back pass had to be scrambled off the line by Semper, much to the Nigerian youngster’s relief.”
