Dogo rallies support for Sunshine Stars

New Sunshine Stars head coach, Kabiru Dogo has called on fans and management of the Akure based club to come together to support the team so as to realise the desired result of turning their faltering fortune around.

The Owena Whales have gone through a long spell of underachievement since the club’s heroics of reaching the last four of both the CAF Confederation Cup and Champions league.

“I feel very humbled and privileged,” Dogo said to Sports247.ng.

“I am here to help Sunshine Stars and to stabilise the team. I would also like to see Stars in a better position (in the league standings). My belief is that I can help the team show quality and put the team in a better position, in returning to where it belong.

Dogo says achieving all these will depend largely on all stakeholders coming together to support the team while expressing confidence in his own ability to bring about the change in the team.

“I think we all know that Sunshine Stars deserve to be in a better position and I think the fans and management share in the same belief. The support of the stakeholders will be needed if we hope to reach the set target.

“I need time to turn things in the team around. Rome was not built in one day and if you look at the team, it has been a little bit difficult for Sunshine Stars.”

“It is a question of time. You can’t just come with a big broom and sweep. I am here to focus on the team. It will be a tough task but let’s see how it goes.”
