COVID-19: Sunday Dare reveals plans for sporting activities resumption…cites mandated awareness campaign as key

The Minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare has revealed the extent of the ministry efforts towards the resumption of sporting activities in the country delayed by the growing rise in the scourging COVID-19 pandemic.

Dare updated on his Twitter handle: “The Ministry intends to have necessary COVID-19 infrastructure in place at major government sporting venues. The awareness campaign on COVID-19 prevention will be accentuated to reach sportsmen and women. The NSF, the NYT and similar major tournaments for now have no fixed date.”

“The return of sporting activities will be determined by Nigeria’s COVID-19 status viz a drop in infection rate & flattening curve. Sadly, there is still some journey ahead. The PTF will give the signal. On our part, we are being proactive by putting in place necessary protocols.”

It will be recalled that all sporting activities across the globe was indefinitely suspended and some leagues declared null and void in bid to curtailing the ravaging Coronavirus and it’s increased claims of lives.
