Commissioner Yargwa, Receives Nasarawa State Deaf Football Team, Donates Cash

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, joined by the Ministry’s Director of Sports Organizing, Shammah Lawrence, on Thursday, 17th March, 2022, received Team Nasarawa Deaf Football Team after they finished 2nd at the 5th National Deaf Football Championship tagged “GANDUJE CUP” held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, last week.

Team Nasarawa who were making their debut appearance at the Championship lost 1-2 to Kaduna State at the final.

Speaking shortly after receiving the players alongside the accompanying officials at his office in Lafia, Amb. Yargwa applauded them for bringing honour and glory to the State.

“Congratulations on your milestone achievement at the National Deaf Football Championship.

“We were following up with all the updates from Kano and your wonderful performance, despite being your first time at the tournament.

“We at the State are so proud of your feat, and wish to urge you to maintain the spirit in your subsequent outings”, he stated.

The Commissioner added that Government would make available every necessary incentive for Team Nasarawa ahead of the fast-approaching National Para Sports Festival to be held in Abuja, next month.

“As the National Para Sports Festival draws nearer, I want to encourage you to use this opportunity to train hard for the national multi-sports event.

“As for us, we will ensure we provide the enabling environment for you to triumph at the events,” he said.

Proud of their performance,the Commission’ er, thereafter, rewarded the team with some cash donations as morale booster to heighten their efforts going forward.

In a unanimous reaction, the players who spoke through a translator, assured that they would do everything within their powers to clinch a trophy at the Abuja event, while also assuring to make both the Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, and State proud.
