Collins focus on AFCON after Paderborn’s Promotion

Super Eagles defender, Jamilu Collins has stated that he is ready to play for Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations following his club’s promotion to the German Bundesliga.

Collins said he is really proud of his team’s achievements this season – having secured an automatic promotion to the top flight league.

“I’m extremely happy and proud of myself and my teammates that we came this far. This is the result of our hard work and God gave us the promotion so we thank him for everything.”

However, the 24-year-old is now focused on helping Nigeria secure a fourth Continental trophy in Egypt.

“Now I have to focus more on my country and the Nations Cup. I have to continue to work hard to ensure I live up to my dreams. I have gained promotion already with my club so I want to do well with Nigeria also at the Nations Cup,” Jamilu concluded.

Collins was an ever-present member of SC Paderborn as they sealed promotion back to the Bundesliga for the first time since the 2013/2014 season, featuring in all 34 games for the club.
