I’m a league that went down to the wire with the leader needing to be determined on the final day, a win for Ajuwa FA over Depros FC sealed their spot at the top of the table with 13 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses, a total of 42 points, just one ahead of second-placed Box 2 Box FC and this, was to the delight of the club founder and President.

Mr. Bina Ajuwa, founder and president of the team, reacted swiftly to the news of his team being crowned champions of the league from his base in the UK while speaking with Sports247.

“I don’t have the right words to describe how it feels, but I think it’s all down to hard work and dedication,” Bina said. “This league consists of big academies and it means a lot to be crowned champions in this long journey with just a point difference. I’ve received a lot of calls, people know it’s not easy,” he added.

Speaking on the plans for the team moving forward, the president hinges on recruiting more players into the team.

“The plan now is to recruit a lot of young players because some of these ones will be moving abroad and others might be going on loan to Nigerian Professional league sides and it will bring about lots of space. The recruitment won’t be easy, but moving our players abroad with the support of Real Oviedo, we’ll be able to get some good players,” Mr. Bina said.

The president also took the opportunity to remind supporters and those who follow and know about them of the aim of the club which he said is to develop youngsters and move them abroad and also thank everyone involved with the club.

“Our aim is to develop these youngsters and move them abroad. It doesn’t need to be only our players, most will come from our team but players from other clubs will also get an opportunity to move through us,” he said.

“I’ll also like to thank the management, coaches, and players of Ajuwa Football Academy for their unending hard work. It’s not easy at all to manage football players, some are under pressure from their parents to go to school and do other things, but then we try to encourage the best players, the ones we feel can get to the top. It’s not been an easy journey but we’re grateful to God,” he concluded.
