Coventry City of England coach, Frank Lampard is raining praises on his namesake, Frank Onyeka, as the former Chelsea midfielder says the Super Eagles’ star has been fantastic since joining The Sky Blues.
Sports247 reports that, with Onyeka having played a key role in the crucial stages of Coventry’s run to the lower division title and promotion to the English Premier League last month, Lampard is quick to hail the battler.
He reckoned that Onyeka brought in a huge wealth of experience gained from his previous days playing for Brentford in the EPL, as well as a short stint on loan at Augsburg of Germany, all of which reflected in the midfielder’s recent games.
Consequently, the product of FC Ebedie of Sagamu, who was born in Asaba, Delta State and previously starred for FC Midtjylland of Denmark, has now gained huge plaudits from Lampard, who rated the Nigerian lad very high.
While eulogising Onyeka’s work ethic, the Chelsea legend also cited him as a key figure in Coventry’s successful promotion push, pointing out that, though the lad only arrived on loan from Brentford in January, he quickly settled down.
Lampard told talkSPORT, “Frank has been brilliant. He was a profile of a player we needed at that moment. He’s come in and given us everything we need, which has really helped the balance of our midfield.”
