Olopade issued the challenge during a strategic meeting with federation executives and technical officials in Abuja, where he outlined the Commission’s performance-driven roadmap ahead of the Games.

“Every federation must raise its standards,” Olopade said.

According to the NSC boss, athlete welfare, discipline, and performance will remain major benchmarks guiding decisions ahead of the competition.

“Athlete welfare and results will be central to our plans,” he implied.

Olopade stressed that the Commission wants Nigerian athletes to compete under better structures capable of producing stronger international performances.

“We want to create the right environment for athletes to succeed,” he noted.

The sports administrator also expressed confidence that the preparations currently being put in place could help Nigeria achieve one of its best Commonwealth Games performances in recent years.

“We believe the groundwork being laid will produce positive results,” he added.

Olopade recently challenged Team Nigeria to target at least 20 medals at the Games, insisting the ambition remains achievable with proper preparation and support.

“The expectations for Team Nigeria are very high,” many sports observers believe.

The Commission continues emphasizing accountability and improved standards across all sports federations ahead of Glasgow 2026.

“There is renewed focus on professionalism and athlete support,” supporters continue to say.

For Bukola Olopade, the message is clear.

Sports federations must improve standards.

Athlete welfare and discipline remain priorities.

And Nigeria is aiming for a stronger Commonwealth Games performance.

Because international success depends on preparation, accountability, and proper support systems for athletes.
