Brown Ideye Doubtful About Super Eagles’ AFCON 2023 Chances

Nigerian striker Brown Ideye, has expressed scepticism about the Super Eagles’ chances of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ideye, who has earned 28 caps for the Nigerian national team, believes that while the camp has good players, they are still in the process of building a team capable of winning the prestigious tournament.

According to Ideye, the present Super Eagles lack the necessary qualities and readiness to clinch the AFCON title.

He emphasized the need for the players to gather and learn from experienced figures like Ahmed Musa and Kenneth Omeruo.

Ideye highlighted the importance of discipline, sacrifices, and the fighting spirit that characterized the team’s success in conquering Africa in 2013.

“I don’t see this present Eagles winning this AFCON; it’s not possible. We are not ready; we don’t have what it takes.”

“They should all gather in the room of Ahmed Musa and discuss with him and Kenneth Omeruo. They need Musa and Omeruo to tell them how we conquered Africa in 2013.

“The discipline, the sacrifices, and how we fought and tasked ourselves when everyone had given up. ”

The veteran striker’s comments reflect a concern about the team’s current state and readiness for the upcoming AFCON competition.

Building a cohesive and competitive team is crucial for success in such tournaments, and Ideye’s perspective adds to the ongoing discussions about the Super Eagles’ preparedness for the challenge in Cote d’Ivoire.
