Nigeria’s beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles have left Kaduna on their way to Ghana, on the strength of deeply motivational words from the state’s commissioner for sports development, Honourable Ben Kure.
Sports247 reports that Coach Abdullahi Isa’s squad will be buoyed by the commissioner’s encouraging words, as they seek to upset the Black Sharks of Ghana in the second leg of their final qualifier for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Dakar, Senegal.
Both sides battled to a 3-3 draw at regulation time and, though the Moroccan referee in charge of the match ordered extra time and penalties, which the Ghanaians won, the result was later adjust following an admission of error by the arbiter.
Consequently, both teams are on level terms heading into Saturday’s reverse fixture and Isa’s squad will be spurred to go full throttle by the commissioner’s words, which were delivered by Kaduna State director of sports development, Hassan Buba, who wished the Sand Eagles success during the return leg in Ghana.
Buba gave the commissioner’s message during a visit the Sand Eagles made to his office before their departure from Kaduna on Thursday morning, then he warmly assured the players and officials of the state government’s support as they prepare for the decisive encounter.
“I extend to you the good wishes of the Honourable Commissioner, who would have loved to see you personally as you depart from Kaduna. He wishes you all the very best as you go to Accra for the return leg match, and he is confident that you will earn the ticket to qualify for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
“We are solidly behind you in spirit, even though we cannot be physically present in Ghana. We are praying for you. Insha Allah, you will return victorious,” the director supplicated, while urging the players to put in the best of their ability in order to shock their hosts on Saturday.
Sports247 reports further that the Super Sand Eagles will enter the crucial decider with memories of how they could not qualify for the last edition after failing to overturn a deficit they suffered during a first leg defeat at home by Mauritania.
