Baraqat Faults Inferiority Complex In Nigerian Tennis

Nigerian female junior tennis player, Baraqat Oyinlomo Quadri has cited inferiority complex as the deepest pit of contention that is gravely affecting the progress of youngsters in the country.

The fast-rising lass said in a chat with sports247.ng that the biggest problem that Nigerian tennis players are facing is their own defeatist mentality and inability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.

She went on to opine that, in contemporary tennis circuit, there is a need for each competing player to dig deep, mentally and physically, in order to pull through.

The West African junior champion, though, pointed out that the zeal to excel and overcome all odds posed by foreign players is not there to be seen among most Nigerian talents in the aces’ sport.

Baraqat said: “The way I see it, Nigerian tennis players do not excel on the global stage because they look down on themselves.”
