ASANTE KOTOKO CHASE SHAFIU MUMUNI OF ASHANTIGOLD

Asante Kotoko has reignited their interest in Ashantigold forward Shafiu Mumuni ahead of the start of the group stages of the CAF confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors are reportedly bent on securing the signature of the 23 year old, who has been on fine form for the Miners.

Shafiu Mumuni was on the radar of the Kumasi based outfit at the start of the season but the “Aboakese” failed to reach an agreement with their regional rivals.

However, coach C.K Akunor who worked with the player during his time in Obuasi has made a request to the management of the club to sign the striker as he intends to sharpen his attack for continental football.

Akunor is believed to be worried by top striker Sogne Yacouba’s barren run in the Confederations Cup, and sees Shafiu as a player that can provide some firepower upfront.

According to information gathered by GHANASoccernet, officials of Kotoko have already inquired about the availability of the forward.

Meanwhile, the record Ghana Premier League champions have been drawn in group C of the Confederation Cup alongside Zambian clubs Zesco United and Nkana FC as well as Sundanese champions Al Hilal Omdurman.
