Alimosho League: Bucknor Coach Eyes Title After Defeating Newtown G

Coach of Bucknor Football Club, Olaide Shoneye has expressed confidence that his team are in good form to win the 2020\ 2021 ongoing Alimosho Football Coaches Council Football League.

Shoneye disclosed this when his team defeated Newtown G 3-0 in week nine of the league which took place recently at Igando Community High School, Alimosho, Lagos.

Bucknor coach explained that the performance of his team in the last three matches was a clear indication that the team are formidable and ready to inflict more pain on their opponents come their way. He boasted that their players are motivated by the club management and ready to give their best in subsequent matches.

“Honestly I am impressed with our recent matches. I can see stability and determination in the team. The players are united and they are in high spirits to win more matches. Their performances in the last three matches convinced me that we are favorite to win the league,” he said.

Shoneye said he is aware of the challenges ahead but insisted that his team are good to win the league. He said failure to qualify for super four at the end of the league would be a disappointment because his target is to win the title for their fans who have been supporting them since the league started.

Meanwhile, Ouadri Olamilekan won the man of the match as he score two goals in both halves. Usman Ayinla was on the scorer’s sheet as he netted the third goal to completely destroy Newtown G who came to pick away point.

In his reaction, Newtown G coach, Udoh Moses said he was not satisfied with both teams’ performance saying that their opponents were lucky to have won the game.

“I expected much from both teams unfortunately they did not meet my expectations. Our opponents won their game because they took their chances while my boys failed to do so. We would go back home and correct the mistakes before our next game,” he said.

The league would be in week ten this week as ECAS welcomes Kedge Sports on Wednesday at Junior Grammar School, Agboju. Kotech would be away against NISSI on Thursday at Ejigbo sports center as Flying Wings host Bucknor the same day at Igando football pitch.

Action resumes on Friday when Layenda and Newtown G clash at Ansar Udeen School, Ayobo, Lagos as Samjason would be at home against Iyaloja General United in rescheduled week nine at Egan football pitch, Igando, Lagos.
