AITEO CUP CHAMPIONS, RANGERS GET MASSIVE RECEPTION IN ENUGU

There was a massive turn out of football followers and supporters of NFF/ Aiteo Federation cup 2018 champions, Rangers International F.C took a tour of the metropolis to display the trophy it won last month, October in Asaba.

 

 

Despite playing a practice match in the early hours of the day which they won 4-1 against NNL side Lamrey United, the management, players and coaches of the ‘Flying Antelopes’ were full of energy in the over five hours tour of the capital city.

The trophy tour which was put together by the Special Reception Committee for Rangers set by Enugu state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, saw the trophy make its way to the residence of of former club chairman and governor of old Anambra state, Chief Jim Nwobodo, at his country home in Amechi with Rangers supporters, Ex-Rangers, sports journalists and others in attendance.

Welcoming the trophy and a very large crowed that joined the train to his aboard, the former minister for sports said, “I am indeed very proud of your exploits in this championship which saw you emerging champions again after a long period. I am also very impressed with our governor, H.E, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for taking you this far just as I did in my time as governor. I urge you to sustain the momentum until you conquer in the continent.”

Chairman of the committee while replying in the brief but very colorful ceremony said, “It is always good to pay homage to whom its due. We came here to show our respect because this trophy we celebrate today was last won by your regime as governor of old Anambra state.”

The tour which, tough stated late, saw the train having stoppages at Enugu-North and Enugu-East LGAs where they were appreciated by the executive chairmen while mammoth crowed went with them anywhere the team went.

It would be recalled that the governor of Enugu state would be hosting the champions at a grand reception slated for the main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium on Saturday, October 17, 2018, with the team and its followers full of expectations
