The championship, scheduled from August 19th to 27th, is poised to be a dazzling showcase of unparalleled athleticism and grit.

The curtain-raiser for the championship includes an impressive array of Nigerian athletes, both male, and female, primed to leave an indelible mark on the grand stage.

On the masculine front, the notable inclusion of Itshekiri Usheoritshe, Ashe Favour, Seye Ogunlewe, Alaba Akintola, Fakorede Adekalu, Darlington Anunagba, and Enekwechi Chukwuebuka in the shot put event promises fierce competition that is certain to captivate spectators.

Turning the spotlight towards the dynamic female contingent, the selected ensemble comprises luminaries such as Ese Brume, George Patience Okon, Sucess Umukoro, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Ruth Usoro, all vying for glory in their respective disciplines.

The likes of Deborah Oke, Imaobong Uko, Nse Uko, and Pamela Amaechi complete this symphony of talent, standing shoulder to shoulder with their peers.

Yet, the announcement carries a bittersweet note with the conspicuous absence of Tobi Amusan, a world record holder in the 100m hurdles.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) cast a shadow over Amusan due to her failure to comply with doping tests, resulting in a stark omission from the lineup.

The AIU’s charges, stemming from a trifecta of missed tests within a year, cast a cloud of uncertainty over Amusan’s future, a stark reminder of the critical importance of upholding the integrity of the sport.

As Nigeria aims to outshine its previous outing at the 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA, where it secured one gold and one silver medal, the anticipation surrounding the 2023 installment soars to unparalleled heights.

The upcoming championship not only serves as a crucible for these exceptional athletes but also as a testament to the enduring spirit of competition that unites the global athletic community.

With the countdown underway, all eyes are set on Budapest, where history is destined to be etched in the annals of sportsmanship and triumph.
