Afelokhai Promises Best Effort In Eagles’ Camp

Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai has pledged that he will make the best of his invitation to the Super Eagles, as he promised to put up his best efforts in training with the Nigerian national team.

Though his call-up came as a belated replacement for injured Elche of Spain netminder, Francis Odinaka Uzoho, Afelokhai told sports247.ng that he has nothing against being invited as an after thought.

Rather than feel demeaned, Afelokhai expressed happiness with his call up and vowed to show his mettle in training with the team, ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

Though his chances appear slim to make the cut as first choice for the match in Johannesburg on November the 17th, Afelokhai said he will use it as a stepping stone for better days ahead for him int eh Eagles.

Afelokhai said he hopes that he would be able to replicate the form he has exhibited for his club in recent time, as he aims to justify the trust and confidence reposed in him by the national team handlers.

The former Kano Pillars shot stopper said: “This is the opportunity I have been ready for. I hope to take it.”
