Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Mr. Raymond Ukwa, joined friends, golfers and sports enthusiasts to honour Sir Okoye at the landmark event.
Mr. Ukwa lauded the celebrant for his contributions to sports growth and community development in Abia State, describing his 50th birthday as a celebration of impact and dedication.
He further reassured residents of the present administration’s drive to enhance the welfare of Abians through improved sports infrastructure and youth programmes.
In a major revelation, he announced that plans are already in motion for the construction of a 19-hole golf course under the State Government’s sports development initiative.
The project, he said, aims to position Abia as a leading destination for both recreational and professional sports in Nigeria.
Ukwa also made a financial contribution to support the event and took part in the exhibition match, noting that the experience was both exciting and memorable despite being new to the sport.
The colourful celebration brought together golfers, well-wishers and members of the Abia sporting community, who turned out in numbers to honour Sir Okoye and celebrate his golden jubilee.
