NPFL Lacks Proper Management – Gara Gombe Blasts LMC And Football Administrators

Former NFF technical committee, Gara Gombe has criticized our football Administrators as well as the LMC for the poor structure of the league.

Gara Gombe who criticized the poor standards of the league has criticized football administrators in Nigeria, levelling them as “Abnormal People”.

In an interview with Sports247, he said this when being asked why the Super Eagles of Nigeria are not being attacked in their poor home matches played here in Nigeria, unlike the League where thugs decide the outcome of the game and the result of matches.

According to him, he said “On the Local league scene, thugs determine the game and who survives and also determine how tight the security is at the stadium. The Super Eagles matches are international matches, monitored and organized by International bodies, like CAF or FIFA or WAFU, whichever one, which things are done normally “.

“Our Environment is an abnormal one. Our League, Football, and Society are being managed by Abnormal people. So because they are being managed by abnormal people, you will see the difference between those matches that are internationally organized between the Super Eagles Matches that are internationally organized by normal people and you come here and see our League that is being managed by abnormal people, that’s why everything about it is abnormal. So the Super Eagles have templates, in terms of Structure, infrastructures, personnel, Medicals, broadcast, everything, once they are not met, the match(Super Eagles Match) cannot go on or would be postponed and this will attract sanction, which may not be limited to only fines but loss of points or other more positive measures.

“On the other hand, if we look at our local league matches, thugs take over, corruption, personal interest, underdealings, and conspiracy are among both the players, managers and even the officials of the club”, he said.

While still speaking, he also criticized the security personnel of our League matches.

“How do you determine security in a match where referees are the first to leave the pitch, instead of being the last, according to the normal rules of football. The referee is supposed to be the first to enter the field and the Last to leave the field, that’s what it ought to be, security is supposed to be ‘before, during and after the match’, but in Nigeria, it’s only before and during the match that their is security, after the match, nobody cares”. Even some of the police or security personnel meant to secure the match are even conniving to create confusion in a match, so that it will be described as an ‘Abandoned Match’, spraying tear gas all over the field, which is supposed to be the last resort, he added.
