Edo FA election 2019: Henry Osaro Asemota now EFA chairman … Aghedo, Aigbona, Ohiowele return

The new leadership has emerged in the Edo Football Association (EFA) with Hon. Henry Osaro Asemota as chairman of the association after securing six votes to edge out Hon Frank Ilaboya who scored four out of the total ten vote cast, sports247.ng can report.

The emergence of Hon Asemota, former Executive Director on sports in Governor Adams Oshiomhole ‘s administration in the keenly contested election held at the 4th Mechanized Brigade Army Headquarters in Benin, automatically stalled the process of determining who wins the position of the vice chairman between incumbent vice chairman, Alex Olaye and Fred Erhunmwunsee both of whom are of Edo South, says Kehinde Osagiede

According to the status of the association, a particular senatorial district cannot produce chairman and vice at the same time. Therefore, the position of the vice chairman has now been ceded to either Edo North or Central who have now left one out of their three members seat vacant pending the outcome of the vice chairman position bye-election to be conducted on a later date.

By this political arrangement, former vice chairman of the association Alex Olaye and Fred Erhunmwunsee have lost out of the race.
Meanwhile, Dr Moses Aghedo and Faith Irabor were returned elected, making Dr Aghedo the longest-serving member in the association.
In the Edo Central positions, Kindness Ohiowole with a resounding victory returned elected along with Faith Ojiaga while Ahmed Aigbona Chairman of SWAN, Edo state chapter and Paul Ojeisekhoba also returned elected as Edo North representatives in the association.

Speaking after their inauguration, the new EFA chairman who scored his predecessor, Frank Ilaboya high promised to sustain and build on Ilaboya’s legacies and work hard to effect positive changes in the areas the previous exco were deficient.
Also speaking, the outgoing chairman, Frank Ilaboya said he had no ill feelings about the election results promised to continue to contribute to football development in Edo state.
Dr Moses Aghedo and Faith Iran or also promised to cooperate with the new chairman and contribute their quota for the good of Edo football.
