Ex-international football star, Chief Patrick Segun Odegbami has taken another giant step forward in his ongoing efforts to create awareness about an effective strategy to overcome discomfort and pain caused by prostrate cancer.
Sports247 reports that the member of Nigeria’s 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winning team on home soil in Lagos, who has played key roles in creating awareness about other debilitating ailments, is now marketing a product that helps elderly men succesfully manage or overcome prostrate woes.
Although the former winger with breathtaking skills and a sharp eye for goal, who was fondly called ‘Mathematical 7’ during his playing days, faulted the authencity of a post that shows him talking about prostrate cancer on social media, he has shared some of his personal information on WhatsApp.
Odegbami, who is now 75 years old and runs a radio station alongside a sports academy in Ogun State, provided details of his personal experience, while extending an open invitation to anyone with interest in being part of what he called his ‘Quantum Energy Machine Experience’ in the battle against prostrate cancer.
He wrote in part, “There is an ‘epidemic’ of prostate-related ailments in Nigeria. Social media is replete with all manner of remedial prescriptions, fake and real, orthodox and unorthodox, western and traditional. There are also the scammers. They are in droves.
“One even had the guts to post an AI-generated image of me (voice and all) prescribing a local concoction as cure for prostate cancer. Since then, I have been receiving tons of mails from people suffering that’s that irritating disease that afflicts most aging men. They want to know the authenticity of that social media message purportedly coming from me.
“A co-member of the Abeokuta Sports Club where I often go to socialize and to play tennis sent me a passionate mail, crying out for help. His words hit me like a brick.
Rather than respond personally to him, I have decided to use this platform to report my experiences from last year, and what has happened since then till now, hoping that the information will help someone.
“Under the monitor of doctors in my hospital in Abeokuta, I have had four PSA tests done in one year, including the last in the UK. The general report is that the readings have continued to drop to near normal. That is, despite not being as meticulous and disciplined in its usage as I should have been.
“I have also continued to use my prescribed daily medications alongside the machine. For those that may be interested to know more, I shall give the full report of my experience in a ‘Q and A’ format in the next few days on this page. Watch out!”
Sports247 reports further that this marks another chapter in the health related efforts of ‘Big Sheg,’ who has in recent years raised a very strong voice for public health, all round wellness, welfare of aging athletes and keep fit awareness campaigns.
He is an African Ambassador for the Global NCD Alliance and uses his personal experiences with managing health conditions to advocate for attitude shift toward diabetes, obesity and various forms of cancer, while also supporting the Nigerian Heart Foundation.
Odegbami serves as an ambassador of the foundation’s ‘Keep The Beat’ reachout project by urging Nigerians to stay physically active in ordere to prevent cardiovascular illness, while mobilising funds for aging football stars dealing with health issues.
