The newly elected players’ representative on the board of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), Professor Lucky Abubakar Aliyu has predicted that the game of giants will begin to get better and ‘come alive’ in the country.
Sports247 reports that Aliyu, who is a former basketball player, security expert and Assistant Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs, made the declaration in the wake of his victory during the election at Bentley Hotel, Abuja.
Aliyu also promised that there will henceforth be a priority for youth development, focus on grassroots activities and extra work towards restoring the fortunes of Nigerian basketball in the next four years.
He added that the emergence of the NBBF’s new board brings a fresh privilege and opportunity for all stakeholders to rebuild the game, with emphasis on programmes for young players across the country.
“I’m excited for the game of basketball. I’m excited for these kids who are going to see us on board, and I assure you that the NBBF will have a wonderful board. We will have people who will love the game of basketball.
“The game of basketball will come alive now. We need to develop from the grassroots, get all skaters involved so that the national team will come back. So don’t worry, we have everything in stock for basketball,” Aliyu submitted.
