Gara Gombe Fires Back: I Have Never Been Board Member Of NFF

Outspoken sports lawyer, analyst and administrator, Shaibu Gara Gombe has come out with an affirmative statement that he has never been a board member of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Sports247 reports that the former chairman of Gombe State Football Association made the clarification in response to a newspaper article that was put together about him by an ‘anonymous writer.’

While acknowledging that the writer might have had innocent and positive intentions towards him, Gombe stressed that the article conveyed some misinformation regarding his involvement in football.

In order to put the records straight, Gombe wrote a rejoinder that he shared across various WhatsApp groups and ended it by hoping that the writer’s identity will be unearthed.

Gombe stated further under a bold caption, STOP PRESS: “My attention was drawn to a misinformtion in an opinion written by an anonymous writer published in Triumph Newspaper, Kano.

“While I appreciate the anonymous writer, I will like to state that I have never been a member of the Executive Board of NFF or any committee of CAF.

“I have been chairman of Gombe FA, secretary of Nigeria Football Stakeholders Forum and represented Nigeria at CAF Elective Congress in Egypt that produced Amos Adamu. I was also a member of the Congress of NFA.

“I hope the anonymous writer will correct the article and republish. Out of excitement, I did not read before sharing the publication. It was purely anonymous. Hence, I have asked to reach out to Triumph newspaper editors to know the writer.”
