Nigeria’s representatives in the 2026/27 CAF interclub competitions will begin their continental campaigns this weekend, with four NPFL clubs set to battle opponents from across West Africa and North Africa for places in the next round.
Sports247 reports that in the CAF Champions League, Rivers United travel to battle Ivorian side FC San Pedro, while Rangers International will host Benin Republic’s SOBEMAP at MKO Abiola Sports Arena. Both Nigerian clubs will be hoping to make full use of the first leg and establish a strong foundation before the return legs.

Rivers United and Rangers are among the clubs carrying Nigeria’s hopes in Africa’s premier club competition, and positive first-leg results will be crucial as they seek to advance in the qualifying rounds.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, Shooting Stars face one of the continent’s more experienced sides, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, in what promises to be a demanding encounter. The Ibadan-based club will need to produce a disciplined performance against their North African opponents as they begin their continental journey at MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors face an away assignment against Guinea-Bissau outfit UDIB at Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne. The Nigerian side will be targeting a result that puts them in a favourable position before the second leg on home soil.
The first-leg fixtures are scheduled to take place between September 4 and 6, with the return encounters set for September 11–13.
