DreamStar Ladies FC President, Dr. Abolore AbdulRahmon, has expressed confidence that his team will complete its mission of securing promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership after booking a place in the 2026 promotion playoffs.
The Lagos-based club emerged as Group A winners following an impressive and consistent campaign in Calabar, setting up a high-stakes semifinal clash against Group B champions Pelican Stars at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Sports247, AbdulRahmon applauded the commitment and fighting spirit displayed by his players, technical crew, and management throughout the championship.
“The players have given their best on the field. We must commend their commitment, resilience, and strength so far. It’s not a new terrain for us, and they all know what DreamStar Ladies FC represents in terms of good football and talent quality,” he said.
The DreamStar Ladies president attributed the club’s impressive run to a shared belief in its identity and long-term vision, insisting that unity within the squad has been the foundation of their success.
“The driving force behind this campaign is that everyone understands the name, the identity, and the vision of the club. The girls are united, committed to the goals, and willing to give everything for the badge.”
With only two promotion tickets available, AbdulRahmon acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead but maintained that his side would approach the decisive playoff with the same mentality that earned them top spot in their group.
“As for the promotion playoff, we shall approach it with the same method as the group stage. The stakes are high, the pressure is off, while the focus remains intact.”
He also called on the club’s supporters to continue standing behind the team as they prepare for the biggest match of their season.
“We seek the support of our fans as always because we are together in this journey. The players can’t do it alone. Surely, we will deliver the promotion to our fans.”
The road to the NWFL Premiership reaches its defining moment in Calabar, with four group winners left to battle for the remaining two promotion places.
DreamStar Ladies will face Pelican Stars, while Rangers Women FC take on Imo Striker Queens in the other playoff fixture, with the winners earning promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight women’s league.
