The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has moved to strengthen its relationship with supporters following the club’s disappointing run in the EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), organising a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at restoring unity and rebuilding confidence in the Oluyole Warriors.
Sports247 reports that the engagement comes amid growing frustration among supporters over the team’s recent performances, with Technical Adviser Salisu Yusuf reportedly booed by sections of the fanbase following a disappointing outing.
With pressure mounting on the technical crew, the club’s leadership has emphasised the importance of maintaining a united front as Shooting Stars seek to turn their season around.
The meeting brought together key figures within the club’s administration, football stakeholders and representatives of supporters’ groups.
Among those present were Executive Chairman Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami, Sporting Director Tobi Adepoju, Chief Operating Officer Bunmi Fadayomi and Technical Adviser Salisu Yusuf.
Also in attendance were Oyo State Football Association Chairman Oba James Odeniran, Oyo State Football Referees Council Chairman Prof. Ladipo, former Shooting Stars player Felix Owolabi and chairmen of the club’s supporters’ groups.
Their presence highlighted the importance attached to addressing concerns surrounding the club’s recent performances and strengthening communication between management and supporters.
‘Our Fans Are the 12th Man’ — Lekan-Salami
Addressing those present, the Executive Chairman described the meeting as an important opportunity to reinforce the relationship between the club and its supporters.
Lekan-Salami emphasised that the fans remain an essential part of Shooting Stars’ identity, describing them as the team’s 12th man.
He appealed for continued loyalty, commitment and encouragement, stressing that the players and technical crew require the backing of supporters during difficult periods.
The chairman’s message focused on the need for unity rather than division, particularly as the club attempts to recover from its recent struggles.
The meeting comes at a challenging time for Yusuf, whose appointment has attracted increased scrutiny following Shooting Stars’ inconsistent performances.
The experienced tactician has faced criticism from sections of the fanbase, with supporters expressing dissatisfaction over the team’s results.
However, the club’s leadership has continued to demonstrate confidence in the technical crew while appealing for patience.
The stakeholders’ engagement provided an opportunity to address tensions and encourage constructive dialogue between the club’s management and supporters.
For Shooting Stars, the immediate priority remains improving results on the pitch and restoring confidence among their supporters.
While the meeting represents an important step towards rebuilding unity, the club will recognise that improved performances are essential to easing frustration within the fanbase.
The management’s appeal for cooperation also reflects an understanding that sustained success requires collective commitment from administrators, coaches, players and supporters.
As Shooting Stars continue their EuroMatch NPFL campaign, the message from the stakeholders’ meeting is clear: the Oluyole Warriors need their supporters more than ever, but positive results will ultimately be crucial to restoring belief.
