Ghetto Tigers FC captain Ruth Origbo has praised her teammates for their resilience, discipline, and unity after the Lagos-based side recorded a second consecutive victory at the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship, moving within touching distance of the promotion playoffs.
Sports247 reports that Ghetto Tigers maintained their perfect start to the tournament with another impressive win, extending their unbeaten run to two matches while keeping back-to-back clean sheets in Group D.
Speaking exclusively to Sports247 after the victory over Chosen Generation Angels, Origbo attributed the team’s excellent start to collective effort and a strong work ethic across the club.
“The secret behind the team’s outstanding start to the NWFL Championship has been hard work and teamwork, including the coaches and the players,” she said.
The captain also applauded her teammates for staying composed under pressure, noting that their determination and unity have been key factors behind their impressive performances.
“I’m proud of my girls because we were tested, but we remained disciplined and fought for each other.”
With Ghetto Tigers now just one result away from securing a place in the promotion playoffs, Origbo has challenged her teammates to maintain the same level of focus and intensity heading into their decisive final group fixture.
“To my teammates, one more push. Let’s play this game like a final.”
She also reserved special appreciation for the club’s supporters, acknowledging their unwavering encouragement throughout the championship.
“To our fans, thank you all for the support and encouragement. We promise not to let you down.”
Having collected maximum points from their opening two matches without conceding a goal, Ghetto Tigers have emerged as one of the standout teams at this year’s NWFL Championship.
The Lagos side will now look to complete the job in their final group game as they continue their quest for a historic promotion to the NWFL Premiership.
