The president of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, has promised that best global practices and top-notch hosting features will be on offer this Thursday during the body’s much-expected summit coming up in Abuja, Sports247 reports.
Speaking ahead of the event at NICON Luxury Hotel, which is officially tagged 2nd Nigeria Golf Summit, Runsewe expressed delight about the gains and prospects of the gathering, which he said will be graced by dignitaries from many African countries and Europe.
While disclosing that the guests had already started arriving on Tuesday, including a World Handicap System official from Ghana, Runsewe added that a total of 50 golf clubs are also expected to attend the summit, with a captain and handicap secretary to represent each of them.
Although he described it as ‘an in-house summit’ that will hold between Wednesday and Friday, Runsewe added that at least 250 active golfers and stakeholders from African countries and Europe will be present.
His Highness, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi is Royal Father of the event, which is also expected to attract top personalities from the corporate sector and political terrain, while the boss of Trobel Nigeria Limited, Lawal Garba, is chairman of the summit.
Two former governors – Priince Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and Senator Simon Bako Lalong from Plateau – are the special guests of honour at the event, which is being hosted by the golf federation, led by the amiable Runsewe.
“I am really excited with the number of dignitaries who will be in Abuja. It will be held in accordance with global best practices in the sport. We have worked so hard on logistics. I can categorically say we are ready for this big event.
“Many people are coming from all parts of the world. More will be in Abuja on Wednesday as the conference holds Thursday, while the participants are expected to depart on Friday,” Runswe expatiated.
