New York Knicks’ Nigerian-born star, Ogugua (OG) Anunoby was back in action for his National Basketball Association (NBA) side on Tuesday night and featured briefly in their victory over Cleveland Cavaliers, Sports247 reports.
Anunoby shook off his recent bout with injury and stormed back into action for The Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, after missing their final two fixtures of the second-round play-off series with a left hamstring strain.

Anunoby suffered the injury late in Game 2 of The Knicks’ second-round series against Philadelphia 76ers, with the Nigerian-born lad forced out of his side’s 108-102 win with two and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
He was later diagnosed with a hamstring strain, but had avoided a serious injury and was considered day-to-day rather than week-to-week, but his team cautiously kept him out of Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia.
The Knicks won both games and secured a sweep that granted them an extended rest ahead of the conference finals, which allowed Anunoby to heal up while The Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons contested a series that wound up going the distance.
Anunoby, who returned to training last week and was a full participant in on-court work over the weekend, said he was feeling good ahead of his New York-based team’s second consecutive trip to the NBA’s final four.
He added that this hamstring issue hasn’t felt as problematic as prior injuries like the one he suffered in November or during the 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals against Indiana Pacers, adding: “It didn’t feel as bad as the past when it happened. So, knowing that, just trying to improve it day by day.”
Anunoby, though, got only few minutes on the court and left without much impact on Tuesday night, as The Knicks rallied all the way back to beat Cleveland Cavaliers 115-104 in overtime of Game 1 in the Eastern Conference finals.
