President of the Nigeria Squash Federation, Wilson Egberipou, has confirmed that preparations have intensified ahead of the 2026 World Junior Team Squash Championship in Ontario, Canada.
The prestigious competition is scheduled to take place from July 20 to July 31 and will feature some of the world’s best young squash talents.
“We have intensified our preparations,” Egberipou said.
According to the federation president, Nigeria plans to present four male and four female players at the championship.
“We want a balanced team,” he implied.
Egberipou explained that the competition remains one of the most respected tournaments organised by the World Squash Federation.
“It’s a very important championship,” he noted.
The squash administrator also stressed that participation in the event will provide valuable international exposure and competitive experience for the young Nigerian athletes.
“These players need global experience,” he added.
Nigeria continues working toward strengthening its presence in international squash through youth development and regular exposure to elite competitions.
“This is part of long-term development,” many sports stakeholders believe.
Egberipou remains optimistic that the championship will help accelerate the growth of the players involved.
“It will help their progress greatly,” he stressed.
For the Nigeria Squash Federation, the message is clear.
Preparation is already underway.
Youth development remains the focus.
And international exposure is essential for future success.
Because young athletes grow faster when they compete against the best talents in the world.
