President Bola Tinubu Reiterates: A Sporting Nation Grows By Deliberate Design, Not By Accident

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his intention to enforce better development and progress in Nigeria’s sports sector, as he says making it part of the country’s overall eco-system will come through ‘deliberate design, not by accident.’

Sports247 reports that President Tinubu affirmed that a sporting nation will grow by concerted effort, which he referred to ‘as design’ among its stakeholders, rather than coincidences that come in the form of an ‘accident.’

Tinubu stated this while congratulating the country’s grapplers’ contingent for their successful outing at this year’s African Wrestling Championships in Alexandria, Egypt, where the nation secured a record 15th women’s continental title.

Much to Tinubu’s delight, the contingent returned home with eight gold and two silver medals from 10 events in the women’s category, as well as an overall haul of nine gold, four silver and three bronze medals on the final table.

While noting that Nigeria’s wrestlers have again demonstrated why they remain a dominant force on the continent, Tinubu also described the victory as a statement of consistency, discipline, dedication and national honour.

“This is how a sporting nation grows – not by accident, not by chance, but by design. By building systems that identify talent early, nurture it patiently, and prepare it deliberately for moments like this,” Tinubu asserted.

He also commended the president of Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), COC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and members of the executive committee for adding fresh vibrancy to the sport and for sustaining the country’s continental leadership.
