Gusau stated his profound respects in an elegy for the former chairman of then Nigeria Football Association (NFA), who he cited as a mentor to many present-day administrators of the game, including himself.

While affirming that he and many other officials learnt football management techniques and upright character from Galadima, the NFF’s supremo prayed for God to grant the late administrator peaceful eternal rest.

Gusau added that he also learnt various leadership skills from Galadima, who was president of the NFA between 2002 and 2006, after serving as chairman of Kano State Football Association and executive chairman of Kano State Sports Council.

Galadima was also the first vice-president of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee for Stadia Development for the FIFA World Youth Championship and commissioner for sports in Kano State.

Gusau empathised, “This is another one that hit us hard. Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima was a mentor to so many of us who are in various leadership positions in Nigeria’s sports today. He was the epitome of high dignity, diligence and integrity.

“We will miss his fatherly advice and words of wisdom darely. Our prayer is that the Almighty Allah will grant him eternal rest and grant the family he has left behind and the Nigeria Football family the fortitude to bear the big loss.”

Sports247 also gathered that Galadima, who was born on June 14th, 1951 in Kano, lived a dutiful life and served meritoriously in all assigned or elective positions he held, including National Sports Commission (NSC) caretaker committee member in 1984.
