Rivers Hoopers basketball club of Port Harcourt coach, Ogoh Odaudu, has come out with a heartwarming pledge that he will continue doing all he can to ensure the team performs well.
Sports247 reports that Odaudu was speaking after another gallant performance by The Hoopers in the Nigerian Premier Basketball League (NPBL), where the former champions have once again reached the last-four phase.

Although he acknowledged that the league has become tougher with the advent of foreign players for some of the competing clubs, Odaudu pointed out that his side continues to stand strong in the face of stiff opposition.
While praising his players for their efforts, Odaudu also cited support from the Rivers State government and adequate welfare for the squad as key factors behind their sustained success in Nigeria’s tough basketball scene.
“We have a government that supports everything that concerns sports, and we are one of the teams in the country that pays players a monthly salary. Whether we play or not, we pay the players.
“That is another factor that makes us perform well. For me, a group of happy players produces the best. We also have coaches who are very experienced, and we are all on the same page. We try everything together to produce the best.”
Odaudu then spoke about his team’s chances of excelling in the next phase of the NPBL season, ahead of which he disclosed that specific training will soon begin, and reasoned that his years of experience, with support from everyone in the team, will keep them on top.
He asserted, “We are going to do our best and start our training for the Final Four. This is my 15th season with Rivers Hoopers, as I got in here in 2010.
“It’s not about the ability to win games. It’s about the relationship that we have. We are a family, and I will do everything to make sure that Rivers Hoopers continue to perform.”
