This verdict comes from a staff writer with Sports Yahoo’s combat column, Uncrowned, Anthony Sulla-Heffinger, who noted that Oba Femi is the surprise main attraction heading into WWE’s WrestleMania 42 this weekend.
Oba Femi is billed to battle the highly-glamorous Brock Lesnar on Day 2 of the WWE’s elite fighting cards in Las Vegas, USA, ahead of which Sulla-Heffinger disclosed that the bout is a move by WWE in response to agitations by fight fans.
Sulla-Heffinger stated in part, “This match might not go 10 minutes, but that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The Royal Rumble may lock in two main event spots in January, but the annual 30-man skirmish left fans clamouring.
“(Their clamour was basically) for one thing and one thing only – Oba vs. Brock. The build here has been nearly perfect, with both behemoths just going after one another, leaving a trail of bodies and foreign objects in their wake.
“Assuming we’re nearing or in the middle of the unofficial Lesnar retirement tour, we’re getting to see him pass the torch of sorts to the “Next Big Thing” in Femi, who is on the fast track for stardom in WWE.”
Another wrestling expert, Barkley Truax also highlighted huge expectations from WrestleMania 42 and added, “Oba Femi is set to take on Brock Lesnar in, quite literally, one of the biggest singles matches during WrestleMania 42.
“(Not less than) 82,000 fans inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas are expected to chant Femi’s name as he marches to the ring for one of the most highly-anticipated bouts in recent WWE memory.
“None of this could have happened if not for a DM on Instagram from a WWE representative asking him to try out in (wrestling, as) Femi was coming off a stellar track and field career throwing shot put at Alabama.
“(He) even had aspirations of competing in the Olympics. The message changed the trajectory of his athletics career. Femi said, ‘The rest is history. I’m guessing they saw the package. They saw the size.’ He’s now heading for stardom.”
Sports247 further gsthered that Oba Femi, who is billed at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, acknowledged how his active days in throwing shot put helped him develop a physically imposing body that is now tsking him high in the WWE.
Oba added, “They saw some of my throwing videos. I showcased some sort of intensity during my throwing. I’m sure that’s what drew them to the market.”
