Philip Shaibu Reveals Plan To Turn NIS Into ‘Global Institution’ Based On New Hope Agenda

Director-general of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu has revealed that an elaborate plan has been set in motion to transform the institution into one of global standards.

Shaibu made the declaration during the matriculation of 232 new students into various departments of coaching and administration at the main campus inside Lagos National Stadium, Surulere.

Sports247 gathered that the fresh admissions came a year after the process was initially suspended by Shaibu, who added that the new students have arrived at the NIS after the procedure was reorganised.

He pointed out that the precedure through which the new students gained admission to the institution is in accordance with the federal government’s New Hope Agenda, towards giving the institution a fresh push for relevance.

Shsibu, who is also the institution’s chief executive officer, revealed, “We have completed the administrative phase of repositioning the NIS, and that’s why we’ve opened the admission for the next intakes.

“This is the first set and they are lucky, because we’ve reorganized everything about the institute from the lecturers to the curriculum as part of the plan to turn it into a global institution.”

Shabu’s media aide, Ben Ogbemudia added that the former Edo State deputy governor also advised the new intakes to be law abiding and disciplined, in order to become effective coaches and administrators.
